INDIVIDUAL TRAINING: BECOME SHARPER IN ARGUMENTATION AND PERSUASION

Do you need to convince leadership? Do you need continued funding for your project? Do you need to ensure that your recipient buys into your arguments? And do you want to be trained in research-based tools adapted to your everyday life? Then it is an individual course in argumentation and convincing that you need to get hold of.
Here we focus on both your strengths and your not-so-strong sides and ensure that you argue in a factual, credible, ethical and convincing way that makes your recipients want to say yes!

Among others, we have helped:

  • top executives who had to explain a new strategic initiative,
  • technical directors who would like to have support and approval for a new project (both from the leadership and the rest of the organisation),
  • members of the leadership board who had to report to supervisory authorities,
  • leaders who would argue for further funding of your units or projects,
  • specialists who were supposed to explain technically complicated issues and make a recommendation.

We provide individual sparring in:

  • to strengthen credibility and mutual trust
  • to argue professionally and ethically, but without becoming too boring or complex,
  • to angle the arguments so that relevant and weighty for the recipient,
  • choosing the right words so that the recipients can visualize it,
  • through words to evoke the right moods in the recipient, so that they leave motivated (if that is the purpose, of course)
All research-based and without resorting to manipulation or unethical means (which, in addition to being unsightly, often end up backfiring).we are happy to combine it with advice on how to build presentations or meeting proposals or how to communicate strategic goals and changes.

Form and course

An individual course is tailored to your needs. There is a difference between whether you have a single case where it is crucial to get the right ‘yes’, or whether you would like general tools that will make you better in everyday life.

Between training sessions, your videos, progress and continued efforts are reviewed so that nothing is overlooked and the focus is kept on what is most important for the individual participant.

Overall, we work with the following format:

  • Training sessions of 1.5-2 hours per session, where we both give
you tools and practice them with you – and with your own cases, so that you both get better and have prepared presentations that you have to give anyway.
  • We video record you along the way, so you can see for yourself what you are doing well and where you need to change – and so you can see how you are developing along the way (it can be difficult to notice that you are actually doing things differently and that it is working if you don’t also see yourself from the outside with video)
  • Usually in a series of 6 training sessions with 1-2 weeks between each, so we continuously make you better.

A training session could, for example, consist of:

  • Credibility. Arguments must be factual and credible – and so must you. We train you in research-based insights on being credible and factual without becoming boring and dry.
  • Angle and balancing arguments. About how we present our case without being categorical, without using fiery platforms and without appearing too one-sided.
  • Handling counterarguments. Often we focus too much on our own arguments and too little on the counterarguments – here are the tools to build handling counterarguments into your own argumentation.
  • Decision making. How do people make decisions? Research provides a number of tools that can be considered when we want to influence others and their decision-making patterns.
  • Visualization. Creating images and thoughts about how something will work is

We conclude the course with a joint evaluation, and you will receive advice and tools on how you can work further and improve your rhetorical skills further.

Preparation

We put a lot of effort into preparation, as it is our experience that the most important criterion for success is that all expectations regarding content, form and pace are aligned both before and during a course. Therefore, it is also important that we know the participants’ everyday lives and work tasks before the course, so that we ensure that we know the participants’ prerequisites and know how we can best give them the benefit of the course.

Calculator

Use our calculator to estimate the price of our courses. Please note that the price is indicative and is influenced by, among other things, whether a senior or manager consultant is required for the assignment and the amount of prior customisation. Placing an order is not finally binding until we have had a subsequent dialogue about the content and dates for the course.
