Netcompany: Project managers who build trust with clients
Netcompany project managers gained rhetorical tools for client and steering committee meetings – even when a project is in crisis.
The challenge
Netcompany's project managers have a strong background in IT and engineering, but as project managers they face growing demands on their communication – especially at initial client meetings and at status and steering committee meetings when the unexpected happens and conflicts must be handled. Ultimately it's about delivering well-run, on-time projects through skilled communication with clients and stakeholders.
Our approach
Two workshops in Netcompany's training program, where project managers practised how to:
- prepare, run and follow up a client meeting
- handle communication at status and steering committee meetings when a project is in crisis
The focus was credibility – in the personal relationship and in relation to the project – and tools for taking the conflict out of meetings with major disagreements.
The result
The project managers are now better at:
- arguing with credibility and weight in sales meetings
- keeping a clear thread and communicating Netcompany's value proposition
- rebuilding trust and delivering difficult messages when something goes wrong
- turning the mood in a difficult meeting
