Course: Meeting leadership and better meetings

Do you hold a lot of meetings? Could they be more effective and motivating? Would you like to improve your ability to plan and facilitate internal meetings with a clear agenda and purpose—where everyone understands why they are participating and what you are aiming to achieve together?

If so, one of Rhetorica’s courses in meeting leadership and better meetings is exactly what you need.

The course is tailored to your specific needs and objectives, and is built on research‑based tools as well as our experience and insights from hundreds of previous courses. The level can be adjusted to suit participants with different levels of experience—from those who are new to leading meetings to experienced meeting facilitators who are looking for new perspectives and more effective tools for running productive meetings.

Among our clients for our courses in meeting leadership and better meetings are:

  • Many agencies and ministries
  • Large and medium-sized Danish companies
  • Universities, PhD schools and research organizations
  • International organizations (where teaching is in English)
  • Companies that want online training.

Optimal balance between theory and practise. I highly recommend the course.

We guarantee:

  1. That we deliver a course that provides research-based tools and exercises in them.
  2. That what you have learnt can be applied in your work from the day after the course.
  3. That even though it is research-based, the course offers surprisingly few dry textbooks and dusty compendia and quite a lot of laughs and good energy. Fun and interesting should go hand-in-hand with research-based and academically sound.

Among the topics covered in the courses are typically:

  • Creating the right atmosphere at the start of meetings,
  • To create relevant agendas that can be quickly and easily turned into minutes,
  • Ensuring that all participants know their roles and the purpose of the meeting or item,
  • How to best manage time,
  • To hold the difficult meetings about difficult topics,
  • To handle disagreements, objections or long discussions,
  • To collect and distribute tasks,
  • To plan effective meetings so that you don’t just meet because there was a meeting on the calendar.

And we are happy to combine it with research-based tools and exercises in argumentation, decision making or other topics you want to incorporate.

Form and course

We tailor the format to suit your needs and reality – from a short inspirational presentation to an actual learning process. Meeting leadership can be done as one day or as two days – depending on the amount of exercises and whether facilitation, argumentation and presentations are included in the programme.

All courses end with both individual and joint evaluation as well as a post-learning exercise that increases participants’ ability to remember the new things they have learnt.

Overall, we work with the following format:

  • A mix of theory, discussions and exercises – often based on the participants’ own meetings, so that they have planned and organised meetings while they learn.
  • Learning is important – and knowing a theory or model is not the same as mastering it.
  • Learning is important – and knowing a theory or model is not the same as mastering it.
  • We let the participants give each other feedback, because often the meeting participants would like a tougher meeting leader than the meeting leader himself thinks.
  • We offer extra reading material before, during and after the course, if you wish. So that learning can be optimised and we can get the most out of the lessons

Preparation

We put a lot of effort into preparation, as it is our experience that the most important criterion for success is that all expectations regarding content, form and pace are aligned both before and during a course. Therefore, it is also important that we know the participants’ everyday lives and work tasks before the course, so that we ensure that we know the participants’ prerequisites and know how we can best give them the benefit of the course.

Calculator

Use our calculator to estimate the price of our courses. Please note that the price is indicative and is influenced by, among other things, whether a senior or manager consultant is required for the assignment and the amount of prior customisation. Placing an order is not finally binding until we have had a subsequent dialogue about the content and dates for the course.
