BETTER DECISIONS THROUGH BETTER DECISION-MAKING SYSTEMS

Equip your decision-makers for better and sharper decisions with sharper decision-making presentations. Whether you use notes, proposals, PowerPoint presentations or oral presentations, the point is the same: If you are going to help your recipient – for example, leadership or the board – make a decision based on the knowledge and arguments you present, then the decision-making presentations, regardless of the format, must be sharp, relevant, not too short and not too long and with a clear recommendation.
We advise and build learning courses that can make your decision-making faster and more effective. With research-based tools in decision-making, rhetoric and argumentation – and our own PhD research project in getting a yes to strategic decisions – we can, in collaboration with you, raise the competencies in the organisation.

Among our clients for our courses in Better decisions through better decision-making systems are:

  • Many agencies and ministries
  • Large and medium-sized Danish companies
  • Universities, PhD schools and research organizations
  • International organizations (where teaching is in English)
  • Companies that want online training.

Often on at least three levels:

  1. Train employees in notes, proposals and presentations, where they improve their ability to make decision-making presentations – so that they become sharper, but also require less working time to make (all too often employees spend time writing paragraphs in presentations and reports that are never read).
  2. Work with the organisation’s decision flow and advise gatekeepers in providing feedback, assessing presentations and ensuring that the decision flow in the organisation is optimal (too many gatekeepers rewrite and change the presentation beyond recognition).

  3. Clarify the decision-makers’ (most often the board of directors’) wishes for decision-making presentations. In many organisations, it is unclear how leadership would like its presentations to be presented – and many personal preferences come into play (one director wants it in a different way than another).

In a short time, I have gained a completely new understanding of what it means to involve and activate those around me, thereby creating motivation and ownership in the organisation. I use the new tools I have been given daily, and I have no doubt about the effect.

Lars Braun Nielsen,

Chief Executive Officer, LBN MEDICAL A/S

For example, we have helped:

  • A financial company to report IT risks to the board of directors in a way that gave the board a quick overview, was easy for the organisation to prepare, and allowed room for both overview and details.
  • A public authority with better decision-making processes, templates and texts in the form of notes and recommendations – all the way from specialist through the department manager level and up to the executive board.
  • A union that equipped the politically elected people with the right presentations and the right knowledge, which at the same time provided a basis and insight while at the same time giving political freedom to decide as desired. A side effect was that the organisation increased its professionalism in all work flows.

Our speciality is hybrid courses that lie between project and competence development and that simultaneously provide advice on workflow, templates and internal processes, while at the same time, through learning courses for managers and employees, we elevate the organisation and get the new workflows and methods trained under the skin.

We have held hundreds of courses and courses and designed a lot of strategic competence courses for both Danish and international organisations. We use research-based tools and in our learning courses we do lots of exercises with the participants and use lots of examples. It should be exciting, fun and challenging to improve.

Then it could be relevant to make sharper decisions, better presentations, free up time and resources – all on a research-based basis – so contact us at Rhetorica and let’s work together to strategically upgrade the organisation’s skills.

We guarantee:

  1. That we provide research-based tools and train the organization in using them.
  2. That we stay and collaborate with you until it works and we have improved the organization.
  3. That although it is research-based, our approach contains surprisingly few dry textbooks and dusty compendia and quite a lot of laughs and good energy. Fun and interesting must go hand-in-hand with research-based and professionally well-
